Day-by-Day Itinerary: 7-Day Tanzania Safari with Hot Air Balloon

Day 1 : Arrival in Arusha

Welcome to Tanzania, the beginning of your unforgettable safari adventure! Upon arrival at the airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a friendly representative from Nyange Adventures and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha. Take time to relax after your journey and prepare for the incredible experiences ahead.

Located at the foot of the beautiful Mount Meru, Arusha is the heart of Tanzania’s safari circuit and a vibrant city filled with culture, local charm, and stunning scenery. It serves as the perfect starting point for your East African adventure.

Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, your safari guide from Nyange Adventures will pick you up from your accommodation and begin the journey to Tarangire National Park. The drive takes approximately two and a half hours along a smooth tarmac road, passing through beautiful countryside and local villages.

Tarangire National Park is famous for its large elephant herds, iconic baobab trees, and diverse wildlife. The park is named after the Tarangire River, which serves as the main water source for animals during the dry season, attracting wildlife from across the region.

During your game drive, you may spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, bushbucks, hartebeests, and a variety of antelope species. Predators such as lions and leopards are also commonly seen within the park. Tarangire is additionally known for its exceptional birdlife, making it one of the best birdwatching destinations in Tanzania.

A picnic lunch will be served at a scenic site inside the park before continuing with your afternoon game drive. Later in the day, you will proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Walking safari & game drive in Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, you will depart for Lake Manyara National Park, one of Tanzania’s most scenic and diverse wildlife destinations. Although relatively small in size, the park offers a remarkable variety of landscapes ranging from lush groundwater forests and open grasslands to acacia woodlands and the shallow alkaline lake that stretches along the base of the Great Rift Valley Escarpment.

Lake Manyara is famous for its rich birdlife, including thousands of flamingos and more than 500 recorded bird species. As you explore the park, you may encounter elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, buffaloes, and large troops of baboons moving through the forest. The park is also well known for its rare tree-climbing lions, often spotted resting on branches during the heat of the day.

In addition to your game drive, you will enjoy a memorable walking safari, allowing you to experience the park from a completely different perspective. Accompanied by an armed ranger, this activity offers a closer look at the park’s wildlife, vegetation, and natural beauty while exploring on foot.

After a full day of wildlife viewing and adventure, you will continue to Karatu for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 4: Karatu to Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you will depart for the world-famous Serengeti National Park, traveling through the beautiful highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, you will stop at scenic viewpoints overlooking the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, offering breathtaking panoramic views and excellent photo opportunities.

Your journey continues through the conservation area toward the endless plains of the Serengeti. Wildlife viewing begins as soon as you enter the park, with opportunities to spot a wide variety of animals roaming freely across the vast savannah.

Serengeti National Park is one of the most iconic safari destinations in Africa and is renowned for its incredible wildlife population and breathtaking landscapes. The park is especially famous for the Great Wildebeest Migration, where millions of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelles move across the plains in search of fresh grazing and water. Depending on the season, you may witness this extraordinary natural event, often described as one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on Earth.

Day 5: Serengeti Hot Air Balloon Safari & Game Drive

Early in the morning before sunrise, you will be transferred to the launch site for an unforgettable hot air balloon safari over Serengeti National Park. As the balloon gently rises into the sky, you will witness the breathtaking beauty of the Serengeti plains awakening with the first light of day.

Floating silently above the savannah offers a completely unique perspective of the wildlife and landscapes below. Depending on the season and wildlife movements, you may spot elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, lions, and even the Great Wildebeest Migration from the air. The sunrise views across the endless plains create a truly magical and unforgettable safari experience.

After landing, you will enjoy a special bush breakfast served in the heart of the Serengeti, surrounded by the beauty of the African wilderness. Following breakfast, you will continue with a full-day game drive inside the park, exploring different areas of the Serengeti and searching for its incredible wildlife.

Day 6: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, you will depart from Serengeti National Park and journey toward the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most remarkable natural wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

As you approach the crater, breathtaking panoramic views unfold before you. Formed millions of years ago after a massive volcanic eruption and collapse, the Ngorongoro Crater is now home to one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. Surrounded by towering crater walls, this unique ecosystem features open grasslands, acacia forests, freshwater springs, and beautiful soda lakes.

Descending into the crater is an adventure in itself. Once on the crater floor, you will enjoy an incredible game drive with opportunities to spot lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, gazelles, hyenas, hippos, and a remarkable variety of birdlife. The crater is also one of the best places in Tanzania to see the endangered black rhino in its natural habitat.

A picnic lunch will be served inside the crater while surrounded by spectacular scenery and wildlife. After an unforgettable day of game viewing and exploration, you will return to your accommodation for dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 7: Departure Day
